Gregory Livingston



Gregory is from New York City & Germany. He has an M.A. in Contemporary Dance Education from the Frankfurt University of Music & Performing Arts (HfMDK) and a B.F.A. in Dance from the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance (NY, USA). He has a 4-year classical vocal music education, and also holds a Shiatsu Practitioner Diploma from the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, California.

Gregory joined Punchdrunk International - “Sleep No More” Shanghai and was a guest artist with the José Limón Dance Company in NYC. He danced for Rui Horta, Claire Russ, Jean Renshaw, Roberto Galvan, Joseph Tmim and started his career in Hong Kong with the City Contemporary Dance Company.

Presently and since its opening in 2022, Gregory is a full-time contemporary dance teacher at MOSA Ballet School in Liege, Belgium.

Winter 2023, he was invited to give company class to the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company for their first premiere, under the new artistic direction of Ioannis Mandafounis. Gregory has choreographed for Theater Pforzheim in Spring 2022; a theater production of Lars von Trier’s film „Dancer in the Dark,“ under the theater direction of Markus Löchner. Fall 2020-Spring 2022, he was a guest professor and artistic employee for the Bachelor programme - Dance, Context, Choreography at the Inter-University Centre for Dance (HZT) Berlin, under the University of Arts (UdK). In Spring 2020, Gregory received a Work Grant (Hessische Kulturstiftung Arbeitsstipendium) "reopening Hessen culturally.“ His performative format, “When Angels Travel, the Sun Shines,”was in collaboration with the Agaplesion Haus Samaria Hospiz-Giessen, Germany.

Gregory has held guest professor positions in Berlin Germany, Taiwan, and Korea. He teaches for professional arts universities and institutions nationally and internationally. He is the European Liaison of the New York Institute of Dance & Education (NYIDE), and Executive, Foundational Faculty of the New York Dance Festival (NYDF) summer intensive, where he directs, teaches, and annually choreographs since over 20 years. Since 2023, the NYDF is held at SAB (School of American Ballet, NYC). Gregory has directed and assisted productions in dance and opera: "Carmen," at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden; the "New Year’s Concert,” at Theater Erfurt, where he was also choreographic assistant for Jean Renshaw’s dance ensemble and her operatic assistant for “Aida," under the stage direction of Dieter Kaegi.

From 2007, Gregory taught ProfiTraining at the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm/Tanzplattform Rhein-Main (Tanzlabor_21) for over 10 years, began directing Dance in School projects, has led and facilitated youth initiatives and educational projects, and was part of the direction team for The Forsythe Company Education Program in collaboration with the Altana Kulturstiftung.
