Anne Holm-Jensen Peyk
Today we introduce Anne Holm-Jensen Peyk who will be teaching Classic Ballet and Bournonville Repertoire during the August Intensive Course.
Anne Holm-Jensen Peyk is Artistic Director at the Royal Danish Ballet School.
Ms. Peyk is a graduate of both the John Cranko School, Stuttgart and the University of Copenhagen. She has worked with The Chemnitz Ballet, Tivoli Ballet Theater, Royal Danish Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Finnish National Ballet, and Hamburg Ballet. During her 13 years as Ballet Master with the Royal Danish Ballet, she collaborated with many choreographers such as Ratmansky, Cherkaoui, Neumeier, Wheeldon, McGregor, and Horecna.
In 2016, Ms. Peyk joined Tivoli Ballet School as Principal Teacher and Director of Outreach Programs of Tivoli Ballet School and Tivoli Ballet Theater.
She was appointed Artistic Director of Tivoli Ballet School in 2018. During her directorship the ballet school inaugurated a pre-professional program, and increased international collaborations with institutions such as Canada’s National Ballet School, The Ailey School, and School of the Hamburg Ballet John Neumeier. In 2020 Tivoli Ballet School joined the international network of dance education institutions, inaugurated at The Central Academy of Drama (China): World Dance Drama Education Alliance.
Ms. Peyk was appointed Artistic Director of Royal Danish Ballet School in May 2022. Since taking over the directorship, she has implemented several initiatives updating the methodical and technical approach of educating the students as well as the pedagogical and psychological teaching practices focusing on developing the students’ ability to cultivate competence, autonomy and sense of community.
As a ballet coach and teacher Ms. Peyk’s teaching philosophy draws from her studies with David Howard, Loipa Araujo, Darla Hoover, and Eva Draw.
Ms.Peyk is also an experienced ballet rehabilitation trainer with certifications in elite sports training systems such as Soma Training by Dr. Guy Voyer and FRC by Dr. Andreo Spina. Ms. Peyk is founding board member of Dance Science Denmark, an organization dedicated to promoting dancer’s health issues and injury prevention and co-founder of Denmark’s only youth ballet competition Den Danske Balletpris.
